General Antiques
Beyond our well-known military offerings, the Antique Center of Gettysburg is home to a deep and ever-changing collection of fine general antiques. Our dealers specialize across porcelain and china, sterling silver, glass, Victorian photographica, and decorative arts — so the showcases reward collectors and casual browsers alike. Inventory turns over regularly, which means there is always a reason to come back.
Fine Porcelain & China
Porcelain is a particular strength. Past highlights have included hand-painted Herend pieces in gold and burgundy — a lidded box and a fish-figure pin dish, both marked on the underside — as well as a large signed Royal Doulton "toby" mug of William Shakespeare, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and limited to a small edition. Early soft-paste plates, such as a seven-inch ABC/clock-design plate with a burgundy transfer, show the kind of unusual, story-rich pieces our dealers seek out. Haviland and Limoges serving pieces appear frequently.
Sterling Silver & Flatware
Collectors of American sterling will find serving pieces and flatware in sought-after patterns. Examples have included a Stieff "Chrysanthemum" pierced berry spoon and a Towle "Old Master" cake server — heavy, well-made pieces that hold their value and their beauty. Whether you are completing a pattern or starting a collection, our cases are worth a careful look.
Victorian Photographica & Decorative Arts
The Victorian era left behind a wealth of beautiful, collectible objects. Leather cabinet-and-CDV photo albums with working metal closures, art glass and pattern glass, and curiosities like a pair of cast-metal bookends depicting Darwin's ape all turn up here. These decorative pieces add character to any home or collection and pair naturally with the period jewelry and accessories elsewhere in the shop.
Glass for Every Collector
Our glass specialists carry pattern and custard glass alongside named makers such as Roseville, Nippon, Belleek, Heisey, and Majolica. From everyday collectible glass to signed art-glass pieces, the range suits both new collectors and seasoned specialists. For background on American decorative arts and makers, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's American Wing is a wonderful reference.
